选C，What is it？“是什么事”，符合。
对方请求帮助，你表示同意，A是What help “什么忙”的中式英语 D.What do you want 意思是“你要什么”，寻求帮忙不一定是要什么。

2.light的过去式、过去分词有两种（-lit-lit /-lighted-lighted)，它们的用法有什么区别？
没有本质区别，过去式和过去分词形式通常用lit，但亦使用lighted。

附：A。为什么B、C、D不可以？而选A？
第一句是被帮助者说的“不好意思，这好像没太大用”
第二句是帮忙的人说的“应该有用的啊，实际上，这个东西很有效果”。
A.sure it was. 这里有个省略，sure it was (of help)，“这应该有帮助啊”和后面句子“实际上，这是很有帮助的”一致。
B.it doesn't matter 没关系 C.of course not 当然没帮助啦 D.thanks anyway 还是感谢你
这几个答案都和说话语境不相符。

4.drive sb. over to sp.是什么意思？
考查短语drive sb. over to sp. 开车送sb去sp。副词 over表示"越过一段距离"

A。that 指代前面说的the cost 花销 ，简写这个句子： the cost in central is higher than that in any other area. B.this 不对，不具备指代功能 C. it 和D .one 都没有特指。
翻译：在西安中心城区租房的花销比其他区域（的花销）要高一些。
